14 American Castles and one from Europe (Photos)

These U.S. ‘castles’ that were built in the 19th and 20th centuries do not necessarily qualify as such in the European sense, but they do represent a cross-section of some of the best architectural examples that a relatively young America has to offer!

As a point of reference, however, the first photograph is of the Hohenzollern Castle in Germany built in the 11th century and then rebuilt in 1454.
