For anyone earning their living selling or manufacturing a quasi-commodity product, you know exactly what I’m talking about!
Please notice, however, that the prefix quasi was strategically placed in front of the word commodity.
The reality is that while end products may be somewhat similar from any number of providers, all of those end products are not necessarily created in the same way!
For example take a plastic surgeon who is in effect technically selling a procedure that is available from thousands of doctors around the United States and the world.
Each procedure whether rhinoplasty, breast augmentation or something else, regardless of surgeon, will likely be approached in somewhat similar ways.
But of course it is the skill of the surgeon chosen that will dictate the outcome. It’s also the preparation done prior to the procedure that will help to ensure that the surgeon is in a position to achieve the excellent outcome. How his ‘team’ works together for the patient before, during and after the procedure is also a critical part of the puzzle!
A surgeon can be great but have an incompetent support staff that will render the experience of a patient an unsatisfactory one. While the actual surgical outcome was acceptable, will the patient ever refer his or her friends to a doctor when they were made to feel like just another body in the seat?
On-the-other-hand, a good outcome coupled with an excellent experience will mean that the doctor will likely receive new potential patients through referrals from the current one.
Title Insurance Providers
While the example above is certainly not meant to equate the skills of a surgeon to the skill-set of a title insurance provider, in effect the idea of creating a stellar client experience from beginning of the process to the end, each and every time, is the same.
Was the support staff attentive, courteous and actually helpful? Was the work product great, on-time and complete? Were expectations set and then met or hopefully exceeded? Would that client, whether an attorney or a loan originator, feel comfortable referring a family member or friend to your firm?
It’s only by going the extra yard and making sure that a client is well taken care of in every aspect of a transaction, and in every transaction, that insures they will give you an opportunity to continue earning their business the next time!
